  This publication by the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) of the United States contains detailed data about every country. Data for each country includes a general introduction, a basic map and geography, the national flag, details of government and administrative divisions, statistics about people, economics, language and transportation . The whole publication is in the public domain so data, maps and flags can be copied and used on any website.

  The main part of the World Gazetteer consists of current and some historical population data for all countries and territories, their administrative divisions, cities and towns. Furthermore it contains the national flags for all countries and territories and some administrative divisions, some summary statistics (such as a list of the largest cities or a complete list of countries with their population) and further information.
